Synthesis and characterization ofperovskite-type metal oxide using mesoporous silica |

Perovskite-type oxide as a catalyst has high potential for their use in various oxidations. The classical methods require high calcination temperature (>800oC) for forming perovskite structure and hence yield perovskite-type oxides with low surface area (<10 m2/g) due to sintering.A new synthesis route was investigated to produce perovskite-type oxide with high surface area. It was characterized with XRD, N2-adsorption/desorption, EDX and TEM. The perovskite-type oxide prepared by the new synthesis using the mesoporous silica showed the crystallite size of 7 nm and the surface area of 140 m2/g. The small crystallite size was caused by the limitation due to mesopore walls of silica. |
