Three-dimensional colloidal crystals were fabricated by our novel technique. It was accomplished by transferring the assembled colloidal particles on the water surface onto a glass substrate after assembling the colloidal particles on the water surface, which was performed by fast evaporating the water. Through this process, photonic band stop filters to control reflection at visible regions were fabricated with 180, 270, and 350-nm polystyrene (PS) particles, respectively. Controlling the incident angle of the entering light tuned the wavelength of reflected light because the space between lattices depends on the incident angle of light and consequently the positions of photonic bandgap shift. |
