The aim of this investigation was to examine the encapsulation of human serum albumin (HSA) in the pH-responsive block copolymer, MPEG-poly(-amino ester)/(amido amine) (MPEG-AA). Poly(amino ester)/(amido amine) component consists of an ionic amino group and can complex with HSA under acidic conditions. To optimize loading conditions for HSA-encapsulated MPEG-AA, the surface charges and particle sizes were monitored using the zeta potential instrument and dynamic light scattering (DLS). By changing the solution pH of the HSA and MPEG-AA in aqueous media, HSA could complex with cationic MPEG-AA component in the acidic solution and be encapsulated in polymeric micelles at the above pH 7.0. MPEG-AA micelles encapsulating HSA would be applied as a model for protein-like drugs delivery. |
