Self-assembled ionogels were prepared by mixing of an ionic liquid (IL) bearing ethylene oxide unit anion and a lithium salt. At the molar ratio over Li salt / IL = 0.3, the ionic mixture self-assembled into the smectic-ordered liquid crystals via Coulombic interactions between ion species and exhibited solid-like behavior. Unexpectedly, the prepared ionogels showed the enhanced ion transport behaviors despite of their solid-like properties and this might due to the characteristic smectic-ordered structure. |
