Synthesis, Characterization, and Photovoltaic Properties of Thienodithiadiazole-Based Donor-Acceptor Conjugated Polymer |

Polymer solar cells (PSCs) have been focused on due to their low-cost associated with the solution processing and the potential source of the renewable energy. However, PSCs are still limited by the mismatch between the absorption spectrum of the solar flux and the donor polymer. The optical band-gap of the donor polymer is not optimized with respect to the maximum photon flux of the solar spectrum between 350 nm and 650 nm. In order to use more photon flux, the most common synthetic method used to achieve the low band-gap polymer is the push-pull approach, in which alternating the electron-donor and the electron-acceptor units are employed in the polymer back-bone. Following this stratagy, we synthesized a low band-gap polymer containing electron-acceptor unit such as thieno[3,4-c][1,2,5]thiadiazole. The characterization, electrochemical properties and optical properties of the polymer are discussed. |
