In this work, we have prepared Ni doped, Ni/Cu codoped TiO2 nanopowders by wet-impregnation method for enhancing photocatalytic activities. Structural properties of the samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction spectroscopy (XRD), and scanning electronic microscopy (SEM). Diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (DRS) analysis showed adsorption bands shifted to longer wave length than undoped TiO2 nanoparticles. Photocatalytic activities were evaluated in methylene blue solution under solar light irradiation. Degradation rate of transition metal doped TiO2 was improved, and also, Ni/Cu codoped TiO2 had exhibited better degradation rate than that of single-doped TiO2 (Ni/TiO2). This result suggested that codoping process with transition metals not only reduced band gap energy, but also decreased the recombination rate of excited electrons. |
