Alteration of end-product profile of succinate-producing Anaerobiospirillum succiniciproducenswas studied using glycerol and/or glucose as carbon sources. When cells were anaerobically cultured in a medium containing glycerol, the formation of by-product acetic acid was suppressed and thus, a gram ratio of succinic acid to acetic acid was significantly enhanced compared to using glucose as a carbon source. In addition, irrespective of the presence of glycerol, glucose enhanced acetic acid formation, which decreased a ratio of succinic acid to acetic acid
