Silica and silica/alumina membranes were prepared by electrospinning technique. Average silica and silica/alumina fiber diameter was 300 nm and 100 nm respectively. Boehmite(AlOOH) nanofibers were fabricated by hydrothermal reaction of aluminum isopropoxide. Boehmite nanofibers - several nm in diameter, from several ten to hundred meters in length - were adhered on silica and silica/alumina fibers. The products were characterized by scanning electron microscope, transmission electron microscope, X-ray diffraction and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy. The composite membrane was confirmed to be effective in removing cadmium measured by atomic absorption spectrophotometer. |
