Azo dyes as sensitizers for DSSCs (Dye Sensitized Solar Cells) were synthesized. Compared to the Ru-complex dye, Metal-free organic sensitizers are easier to be synthesized and cost less. And a variety of azo dye derivatives can be easily prepared. So energy levels and absorption band of dye sensitizers can be finely tuned by changing the structures of the dyes. Chemical structures of the synthesized dyes were identified by IR, NMR and MS. Stabilities of the dyes to heat, light and redox were evaluated by DSC, TGA, Fade-O-meter and CV. Photoelectrochemical behaviors of the TiO2 nanocrystalline electrode sensitized by the dyes were investigated by solar simulator. |
