제목 Synthesis and Electrorheology of Poly(methyl methacrylate) Composite Particles Composed of Polyaniline
초록 Several emulsion processes have been developed for the direct synthesis of the emeraldine salt of polyaniline (PANI) that is soluble in organic solvents. An electrically conductive PANI was prepared in organic media of acetone/methyl methacrylate (MMA) containing dodecylbenzenesulfonic acid (DBSA) as an emulsifying dopant. The Polymerization started by adding aqueous solution of ammonium persulfate (APS) into the organic solution mentioned above. As the reaction proceeded, the emulsion phase separated into two layers of organic layer PANI/MMA containing PANI and transparent aqueous layer. The separated PANI/MMA was dispersed in PVA aqueous solution. The polymerization of MMA on the surface of PANI particles were carried out for 5h by adding AIBN.
Conductivity was measured using four-point probe techniques at room temperature. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) techniques were adopted to study the structure and morphology of the PMMA containing PANI powder. The reaction progress was monitored by optical microscopy. The polymer’s structure was analyzed by an FT-IR. Electrorheological measurements were also carried out by using a rotational rheometer (Physica MC-120) with a high voltage generator in both controlled shear rate (CSR) and shear stress mode (CSS).
