제목 Electrochemical removal of sodium ion from KCl solution with desalination battery system
초록 Potassium hydroxide(KOH), widely used in many industry fields, is mass-produced by electrolysis of KCl solution. High purity of KOH is important factor for its performance, so the process removing sodium ion impurity from the raw KCl solution is necessary. Crystallization has been used to remove impurity so far. However, if the concentration of sodium ion impurity is high, pretreatment processes to reduce the impurity concentration are needed. In this study, we applied eco-friendly and highly energy efficient desalination battery system to remove sodium ion selectively. As a main result of the study, we demonstrated this system successfully produce the high purity KCl solution by removing sodium ion impurity with an electrochemical method.
