Selective embedding of binary nanoparticles in P2VP-b-PHIC block copolymers |

The binary nanoparticles were embedded selectively each domains of diblock copolymer in selective solvent. The poly(2-vinylpyridine)-b-polyhexylisocyanate (P2VP-b-PHIC) was synthesized using living anionic polymerization and utilized as a matrix of binary nanoparticles. In selective solvent, toluene, P2VP-b-PHIC forms micelle types comprised with P2VP core and PHIC corona. The CdS quantum dots were selectively embedded into the P2VP domain of P2VP-b-PHIC micelles. Then thiol-capped Au nanoparticles were incorporated to PHIC domain. Most interestingly, the diblock copolymer that forms lamellar phases under suitable conditions also forms the arrays with two different kinds of nanoparticles. The nanoparticles embedded P2VP-b-PHIC was transferred from micelle to lamellar form after solvent annealing. The block copolymers and binary nanoparticle incorporated nanocomposites were characterized by FE-TEM and EDX. |
