Chitosan is one of the abundant natural polymers, and has numerous applications in pharmaceutical systems, food additives and medicines. We prepared chitosan beads from chitosan solution by air spray nozzle method for enzyme immobilization. We also modified the chitosan beads with amino acids in order to improve the activity of the immobilized enzyme Lipase from candida rugosa immobilized on the modified chitosan beads showed better activity than the chitosan beads without modifications, and showed resusability. We proved that the covalently immobilized lipase on chitosan beads could be utilized as a useful biocatalyst. |
