Shape Memory Effects in Polyurethanes Containing Superparamagnetic Nanoparticles |

A series of shape memory polyurethane (SMPU) was synthesized with the addition of NiZn-ferrite(NiZnFe2O4). Poly(tetramethylene glycol)(PTMG) and isophorone diisocyanate(IPDI) were used to synthesize the SMPU. Magnetic property of nanoparticle is measured by MPMS. Nanoparticle was chemically modified to improve dispersion, which was confirmed by TEM. The properties of Ni0.7Zn0.3Fe2O4-polyurethane nanocomposite were characterizes by tensile, dynamic mechanical thermal, thermal stability, electric resistivity and cyclic tests. It was found that the shape memory effect of polyurethane nanocomposite could be induced by inductive heating in an alternating magnetic field. The maximum temperature achievable by inductive heating in a specific magnetic field was observed. |
