The Paper is already used extensively in analytical and clinical chemistry for paper chromatography that has been used to separate and identify mixtures of small molecules, amino acids, proteins and antibodies. Recently, a paper-based microfluidic chip has been introduced as a promising technology for low cost healthcare because of advantages such as a simple and low cost fabrication, portability and disposability. Previously-reported fabrications of the paper-based microfluidic chip utilize photolithography techniques, wax printing and cutting. In this paper, we introduce an alternative fabrication method using an inkjet-printer and a cutting plotter. The proposed processes can effectively make hydrophobic boundaries by hydrophobic polyvinyl chloride (PVC) tape cutting and UV-curable resin printing unlike the previous fabrication methods. |
