제목 Effect of iron chelators on photodynamic therapy efficiency in tumor cells
초록 The effect of iron chelator on the production of protoporphyrin IX (PpIX) and photodynamic therapy was investigated in tumor cells. PpIX generation was successfully increased as addition of iron chelators with 5-aminolevulinic acid (ALA) or methyl amino levulinic acid (MALA). The presence of iron chelators could induce increased phototoxicity and higher PpIX accumulation into the tumor cells than did ALA or MALA alone. Furthermore, iron chelators with ALA or MALA accelerated apoptosis/necrosis of tumor cells, compared to ALA or MALA alone.
