제목 | Poly(arylene ether)s Containing Carboxylic and Sulfonic Acid Groups for Proton Exchange Membrane Materials |
초록 | Proton conducting polymers have attracted much attention due to their applications in some electrochemical devices, such as proton exchange membranes (PEM) in PEM fuel cells (PEMFC) and direct methanol fuel cells (DMFC). Recently, sulfonated aromatic polymers such as sulfonated poly(ether ether ketone), poly(ether sulfone), polyimides, and poly(benzimidazole) have been investigated as candidate PEM materials because of their excellent thermal, mechanical, and dielectric properties and good oxidative resistance. In this study, Poly(arylene ether)s containing carboxylic and sulfonic acid groups were synthesized via nucleophilic aromatic substitution (SNAr) reaction of the monomers, 4-[bis-(4-nitro-3-trifluoromethyl-phenyl) amino] benzenesulfonic acid, 3,5-dihydroxy-benzoic acid and 4,4’-isopropylidenediphenol. Structure analysis by means of 1H NMR and FT-IR spectra showed the presence of two functional groups. |
