Status of SAXS Beamlines at Pohang Accelerator Laboratory and Their Applications for Characterizing Structures of Polymers |

There are two beamlines, 4C1 and 4C2, dedicated for SAXS at Pohang Accelerator Laboratory. The 4C1 SAXS beamline was constructed early 2000 as a bending magnet beamline and was open to the public users, including both domestic and foreign researchers, in the same year. In 2003, the second SAXS beamline, 4C2, which also is as a bending magnet beamline, finished construction and started commissioning and user support. Now an advanced undulator SAXS beamlines and one more bending magnet SAXS beamline are planning to be constructed within next five years. In the presentation, the current two SAXS beamlines are introduced, including their instrumentation specification and limits in their applications in the structural determinations of polymers. And, SAXS results taken from crystallizable polymers and copolymers, polymer thin films, and nanoporous polymer composite thin films are presented and discussed with considering their chemical structures and sample preparation process condition parameters. |
