제목 Insertion Mechanism of Peptide Molecules intoPhospholipid Bilayers ; X-ray and Neutron reflection studies
초록 Structures of Lipid bilayers in a buffered solution as a model biological cell membrane are investigated using synchrotron X-ray and neutron reflectivity technique, in order to visualize the binding and penetration mechanism of trans-acting activator of transduction peptides, which were known as a protein transduction domain of human immunodeficienty virus into the those lipid membranes. At a photon energies of 21 keV, X-ray reflection could sucessfully reveal the detailed bilayered structures through a buffer solution, in a nanometer scale. Furthermore, neutron reflectivity was also used to detect the water distribution near the bilayer, and we could successfully obtain the structure of pores formed by the highly accumulated peptide molecules in the bilayer during the binding-insertion process.
