Electrospun poly(vinylidene fluoride)[PVDF] nanowebs with high β-crystal content can be used as piezoelectric pressure sensor due to preferential dipole orientation induced by high DC voltage during electrospinning. In voltage mode using the current generated by CF dipole change by an external pressure change, it can measure only dynamic pressure with broad frequency range, whereas the piezocapacitive pressure sensor made of thermoplastic polyurethane nanowebs can monitor both static pressure and dynamic pressure with relatively low frequency through measuring capacitance change by the thickness change when applying external pressure. In this study, we could evaluate body weight and energy expenditure during walking and running, using smart insoles composed of both PVDF and TPU nanowebs stacked on each other through measuring static pressure and dynamic pressure simultaneously.
