Growth of Highly Symmetrically Aligned ZnO Nanostructures and Their Application to Dye Sensitized Solar Cells** |

In this presentation, we introduced a method to fabricate vertically aligned ZnO nanostructures and reported improved electrical and optical properties of the dye sensitized solar cells. This nano-scale hole photoresist structures were used as templates for the hydrothermal growth of vertically aligned ZnO nanostructures. Flexible DSSCs with photoanodes composed of periodically aligned ZnO NRs were fabricated with a 3.15 % and the device performance was well maintained after 500 bending cycles. The best effeiciency of 11.12 % was achieved with a photoanode incorporating an aligned ZnO hemisphere array which acted as light scattering centers as well as direct electron transport medium to anode (JSC of 21.42 mAcm-2, VOC of 824 mV and FF of 63 % under AM=1.5 global condition). ** This work was funded by the the Basic Science Research Program (No. R15-2008-006-03002-0) and the Practical R&D grant funded by the GIST-GTI. |
