Targeted Quantum dots for cancer therapy and imaging |

We have proposed using self-tracking quantumdot conjugates for the detection and imaging ofcancer cells. These fluorescent NPs offer the advantage of tracking and monitoring cancer cells, delivery of anticancer drug, or any other therapeutics for that matter, in cells and are invaluable in the study of drug delivery and imaging agent delivery. Experimental results suggest that the QD NPs labeled with suitable surface ligands can be specifically targeted to cells with a high degree of precision. The water soluble Qdots are very useful to modify with targeting agentes such as antibody or small peptide agent. In vitro confocal microscopy studies involving KB cells also reveal that targeted QD NPs can be readily internalized into cells. |
