Influence of N-doped Carbon Layers on Electrochemical Performance of Graphite Nanofibers-based Electrodes |

In this work, core/shell carbon/graphite nanofibers (GNFs) composed of core GNFs and carbon shells were prepared to obtain a new type of carbon electrode materials. Carbon shells containing nitrogen groups were prepared by coating polyaniline (PANI) onto the GNFs and subsequent carbonization at 850℃. After carbonization, the C-GNFs contained about 5% nitrogen and showed a 1D structurelike that of GNFs. In addition, the C-GNFs exhibited electrochemical performance superior to that of pristine MWNTs. This superior performance is attributed to increased specific surface area of C-GNFs, and the presence of nitrogen groups formed on the carbon electrode after the carbonization of the shell PANI. |
