Gelatin is a natural and biocompatible polymer based on protein with a lot merits such as low cost, processability into various shape and non-toxicity. Based on its properties, gelatin hydrogel can be utilized in biomaterials and biomedical applications. The hydrogel is solution-processable materials therefore it can be directly printed and integrated into organic electronics. Hydrogel based on gelatin can serves as biocompatible and biodegradable electrolyte in bioelectronics as a gating media. Here, we show basic electrolytic properties of gelatin hydrogel by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). Furthermore, we also characterized change of electrochemical behavior from the variation of pH condition by adding additives in gelatin hydrogel. To verify these properties, we also fabricate organic electrochemical transistor (OECT) which is explored for applications in biosensor and bioelectronics with poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) polystyrene sulfonate (PEDOT:PSS) as electrodes and evaluate characteristics of OECT with gelatin hydrogel as electrolyte. |
