The goal of this work is form the MIP core-shell beads with size from 100 to 250 micrometers to remove heavy metal ions from wastewater for industry application. The first, core particles are made by suspension polymerization of poly(styrene-divinylbenzene). After that, shell layer containing metal is formed by precipitation polymerization. The various different conditions about ratio of crosslinker and monomer, concentration of solvent, and concentration of initiator in the second step are surveyed to choose the best one. The core-shell polymer beads after that are washed with acid to remove metal. The final particles are packed into the column for HPLC analysis to determine how much concentration of metal ions they can separate. To see figure of core and core-shell particles use SEM and TEM. AAS are used to determine concentration of metal ions. These other properties are determined by FTIR, TGA, XPS, etc… |
