Fabrication and Chracterization of Electrospun Nanofibers Polyurethane Membrane as Wound Dressings |

A nanofiber polyurethane membrane has been prepared by electrospinning method and evaluated as wound dressings. This wound dressing showed controlled evaporative water loss, excellent oxygen permeability and promoted fluid drainage ability but could inhibit exogenous micro-organisms invasion due to the ultra-fine fibers with porosity and inherent property of polyurethane. As we expected, porosity were dramatically increased because of the morphological structure. Histological examination confirmed that epithelialization rate was increased and the exedate in the dermis was well controlled by covering the wound with this membrane. The results indicated that the nanofibers polyurethane membrane prepared could be properly employed as wound dressings.
