Mannheimia succiniciproducens MBEL55E has an ability to produce a large amount of succinic acid from various carbon sources under anaerobic conditions. However, few researches have been performed to elucidate the effects of nutrients on its growth and succinic acid production. Especially, a buffering capacity and sodium concentration in a medium have been known to be crucial of anaerobic organic acid fermentation. In this work, we used di-potassium phosphate and sodium bicarbonate as a buffering agent. Sodium chloride was used to investigate the effect of sodium. This research shows that the usage of di-potassium phosphate and sodium bicarbonate could be used as a buffering agent, and the addition of sodium chloride enhanced the cellular growth and succinic acid production. |
