The solvent effect on the conductivity of vapor phase polymerized EDOT has been investigated. For this study, the mixture of EDOT monomer and solvents such as ethanol, DI-water, and toluene were heated and introduced into vapor-deposition chamber and subsequently deposited onto the substrates which were pre-treated with oxidant and dopant. The vapor phase polymerized film with solvent-added monomer shows the conductivity of about 300 times than that with pure monomer. There are secondary doping, screening effect, and cleaned-off effect to reveal the increase of conductivity. In this study, 4-point probe conductivity measurements, atomic force microscopy, photoelectron spectroscopy and ultraviolet-visible-near infrared spectrophotometry were carried out to find the proper mechanism.
