On-Demand Self-Assembling Theranostic System Using HyaluronateCucurbituril Conjugate |

Cucurbituril (CB) is a highly symmetrical macrocyclic molecule showing unique host-guest chemistry with spermine and hexamethylene diamine. In this work, hyaluronate-cucurbit[6]uril (HA-CB[6]) conjugate was synthesized for its drug delivery applications by photoreaction of thiolated HA (HA-SH) with (allyloxy)12CB[6]. We confirmed the successful synthesis of HA-CB[6] conjugate and its self-assembly with spermine derivatives by 1H NMR analysis. The novel HA-CB[6] conjugate was successfully applied for the preparation of on-demand theranostic systems with various functional moieties by host-guest chemistry in a non-covalent manner. In addition, injectable HA hydrogels could be prepared in a few minutes by simple mixing of HA-CB[6] and HA-spermine conjugates. This presentation will give you an overview on the synthesis, characterization, and applications of HA-CB[6] conjugates as novel drug delivery systems. |
