We investigated the effect of surface and contact treatments in 6,13-bis(triisopropylsilylethynyl) (TIPS) pentacene-based organic thin-film transistors (OTFTs). As source/drain (S/D) electrode, we employed sputtered deposited indium-tin-oxide (ITO) layer instead of using Au layer. By contact treatment of ITO electrode with O2 plasma and 4-chlorophenyl dichlorophosphate (CPDP), the field-effect mobility increased from 4 x 10-3 cm2/Vs to 6 x 10-2 cm2/Vs. However, additional gate insulator surface treatment degraded the performance of OTFTs (mobility decreased to 2.5 x 10-2 cm2/Vs). Using contact treated ITO S/D electrode, OTFT backplane having 40 x 40 pixels has been demonstrated. |
