Hydrogels consisted of polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP), κ-carrageenan (ΚC) and 1,2-hexandiol were prepared by 60Coγ-ray irradiation. The concentrations of PVP, ΚC and 1-2,hexanediol were in the range of 7-10 wt% and the concentration of KC was 3 wt%. The physical properties of the prepared hydrogels were evaluated with gel content, degree of swelling and tensile strength. The gel content and the tensile strength increased with increasing PVP concentration due to increased crosslinking density anddecreased with increasing 1,2-hexanediol concentration. The Degree of swelling was inversely proportional to the gel content because crosslinking density increased as the gel content increase. |
