Degradation of organic devices by water or oxygen inhibits the application of them, so the researches on flexible, transparent, and high performance gas barrier film have been conducted. In this study, we synthesized the epoxy hybrid material (hybrimer) which consists of organic functional groups and siloxane networks through hydrolytic sol-gel reaction, and this hybrimer was photo-cured by UV light. We measured the permeability of epoxy hybrimer for water using calcium test method. The epoxy hybrimer shows prolonged lag time because hydroxyl groups which are generated during photocuring interact with water molecules by hydrogen bonding. Moreover, silica-embedded epoxy hybrimer shows significantly reduced water vapor transmission rate due to the lengthy path of water molecules. Finally, high performance gas barrier film was fabricated by coating epoxy hybrimer on the thermally stable, transparent, and flexible glass-fabric reinforced hybrimer substrate (GFRhybrimer). |
