Recently, although surgical techniques have greatly changed, the needle and suture have simply been altered to permit more specific subtypes of surgery. Especially in the structure of suture, the conventional sutures have included insufficient tensile strength and difficulty with their application to the tissue engineering. In this study, the smart suture (cell-implanted suture) was prepared with poly (lactide-co-glicolide) (PLGA). Firstly, PLGA was made using melt spinning process and the fineness of PLGA filament was 600 den./fil. to improve the knot strength and elongation. Secondly, to advance bulk, looping and crimping properties related to porosity of the PLGA fiber, the fiber was twisted between two points, heated to a heat-setting temperature, cooled and then allowed to untwist. Finally, the cell was seeded and cultured on PLGA suture toapply on tissue therapy. The result indicated that the developed suture was prepared and their application on tissue therapy was confirmed. |
