An Ionic Conjugated Polymer from the Non-catalyst Polymerization of 2-Ethynylpyridine via the Ring-Opening of Cyclic Compounds: Synthesis and Characterization |

A self-dopable conducting polymer was defined as a conjugated polymer where a significant fraction of monomeric unit contained a covalently attached ionizable. Here, a novel ionic conjugated polymer was synthesized via the non-catalyst polymerization of 2-ethynylpyridine by the ring-opening of cyclic compound. The polymerization of 2-ethynylpyridine by using cyclic compounds proceed well in homogeneous manner even at the mild reaction conditions to give a high yield of polymer. The cyclovoltammograms of polymer exhibited the irreversible electrochemical behaviors between the oxidation and reduction peaks. The oxidation current density of polymer versus the scan rates is approximately linear relationship in the range of 30 mV/sec – 120 mV/sec. |
