Stimuli-Driven Release of Model Polymersfrom Polyelectrolyte Multilayer Films Monitored by Neutron Reflectivity |

In this study, we have studied on the release mechanism of deuterated target polymer chains incorporated into multilayered films using neutron reflectivity (NR). NR experiments allow us to gain the quantitative information on the change of internal structure upon external perturbations and also on the release of a specific component in the mixed layers when one component in the mixture is deuterated and subject to release upon exposure to external stimuli. Using NR, we successfully monitored the release behavior of d-PMAA in nanocomposite multilayer films containing a mixture of anionic weak (PMAA) and strong (PSS) polyelectrolytes. We also have investigated the effect of post-treatment pH on the release of d-PMAA from the multilayer films in detail. |
