제목 | Novel sulfonated Poly(ethersulfone)/(etherketone) and branched copolymer proton exchange membranes |
초록 | Sulfonated poly(aryleneethersulfone/ketone) copolymers and sulfonated branched poly(aryleneethersulfone/ketone) copolymers were synthesized as proton exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFC). Copolymers were prepared by the condensation polymerization between bisphenol A and sulfone or ketone, and tris-trihydroxyphenylethane as a branching agent. In this study, we focused chemical structure which effects conductivity and methanol crossover. The polymers were designed by ratio of amorphous (sulfone) and crystalline (ketone) domains, and flexible narrow channel using branching agent. Branching agent plays a role to improve flexibility and provide narrow channel. The membranes directly prepared from the sulfonated polymers were evaluated for possible fuel cell application by determining the degree of sulfonation water swelling, proton conductivity, methanol permeability and thermal stability. Methanol permeability showed higher value than that of Nafion. The proton conductivity showed about 5X10-7 s/cm. The composition and incorporation of the sulfonated repeat unit into the polymers were confirmed by 1H NMR and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. |
