Searching high capacity cathode materials is one of the most important fields of the research and development of both Lithium-ion batteries (LIB) and Sodium-ion batteries (SIBs). In this talk, I will present nanocomposite materials composed of rutile-structured iron oxyfluoride (FeO0.7F1.3) and carbon (FeO0.7F1.3/C), which show high capacity in both LIB and SIB systems. This material exhibits a high initial discharge capacity of ~ 470 mAh g-1 (based on the FeO0.7F1.3 active material only) in both lithium and sodium cells at 50 °C. X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) were employed to investigate the Li- and Na- storage reaction mechanism in this nanocomposite material. The reaction mechanism studies of FeO0.7F1.3/C with lithium and sodium reveal a hybridized mechanism of both intercalation and conversion reaction. |
