Metal hollow nanoparticles are being studied because of their applications in catalysis, chemical and biological sensing, and optoelectronics, etc. There are relatively well-developed synthetic methods for spherical gold hollow. However there are few reports for the method to prepare another shapes of gold hollow nanoparticles. In this study, an alternative seed and grow method for growing the controlled cubic gold hollow nanoparticles. Cubic type hematite(α-Fe2O3) particles were used as templates and gold nanoparticles reduced from HAuCl4 are attached to the surfaces of the hematite particles and further coverage was achieved by iterative seeding of gold nanoparticles. Finally, hematite shells were dissolved by HCl to produce cubic gold hollow nanoparticles. Obtained cubic gold hollow particles were investigated by XRD, BET, SEM and TEM. |
