제목 Characterization of Poly(vinyl alcohol)/Clay Nanocomposite for Barrier Films
초록 Polymeric films containing some amount of –OH functionality such as PVA and EVOH widely are known to be excellent barriers to oxygen under low humidity conditions. Furthermore, orientation of macromolecular chains affect the mechanical properties and increasing crystallinity result in reduced gas solubility and a more tortuous path for the diffusing species.
In this study, PVA/clay nanocomposites were prepared by using Na+-montmorillonite and the organoclay with different alkyl chain length and investigated their crystalline behaviors depending on the organic modification and concentration of clay in the matrix PVA.
