Materials for embolization such as platinum coils, cyanoacrylate and poly(vinyl alcohol) particles have been used commonly, but they had limitations of low blocking density and controllability. Hydrogel polymer materials were used in this study to complement the previous materials. Bilayer of poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) hydrogel films, each had different crosslinking densities, bent in water as they showed different swelling ratios. PVA hydrogels were synthesized by using glutaraldehyde (GA) as crosslinker and swelling ratios were measured by mass of the hydrogels. We confirmed that bilayers with different combinations showed different curvatures in the water. The prepared bilayers could be used as the material for embolization. |
