Effects of multi-walled carbon nanotube dispersion on electrical properties of polycarbonate/ multi-walled carbon nanotube composites |

The electrical property of polycarbonate (PC)/ multi-walled carbon nanotube (MWCNT) composites were studied. The MWCNTs were functionalized with hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) under sonication and then freeze dried and thermally dried. The electrical conductivity and electromagnetic interference shielding efficiency (EMI SE) showed higher values for H2O2-treated, freeze-dried PC/MWCNT composites than for H2O2-treated, thermally-dried PC/MWCNT and H2O2-untreated PC/MWCNT composites. The higher values of the Zeta potentials and the results of morphological studies of H2O2-treated, freeze-dried PC/MWCNT/THF mixtures support the improved dispersion of the MWCNT and this result is consistent with the results of the electrical conductivity and EMI SE of the H2O2-treated, freeze-dried PC/MWCNT composites.
