Much attention has been attracted by organic thin-film transistors (OTFTs) in the past decade. Because of their low cost and easy fabrication, OTFTs are considered to be useful in driving liquid crystal display and organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs), and might also be applied to smart cards, gas sensors and other fields. However, for the application of real array device such as active matrix display, OTFT device should be protected by passivation layer to prolong the device lifetime. Most frequently used organic material for OTFT passivation is polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) in water not to damage to organic semiconductor layer by the effect of large difference of surface energy. In this report, we modified PVA surface by self assembly monolayer technique using fluorine substituted silane compound to protect OTFT device from H2O. |
