This study introduces the suitable adsorbent, PEI/PVC-CF, for removal of hydrolyzed reactive dyes from aqueous solution. PEI/PVC-CF was fabricated as following procedures: PEI/PVC crosslinked polymer was synthesized at 80 oC for 6 h via alkylation reaction and this crosslinked polymer solution was extruded into water to form a fiber type of adsorbent. To identify the characteristics of PEI/PVC-CF, SEM and FTIR analyses were performed. From various batch experiments, we observed some promising properties of the adsorbent. The solution pH significantly affected the sorption capacity of the PEI/PVC-CF due to the change of functional groups on the adsorbent. The adsorption isotherms showed that the maximum RB4 uptakes were 327.49, 321.14, 279.44, 254.36, and 21.20 mg/g at pH 2, 4, 6, 8 and 12, respectively. As increasing the initial dye concentration, the time to reach equilibrium was also increased. Also, dye-loaded adsorbent could be easily regenerated using NaOH solution. |
