Water repellency is important in many industrial and biological processes, such as the prevention of the adhesion of snow to antennas and windows, self-cleaning traffic indicators, the cell motility, etc. Two key approaches are included in the strategies suggested to produce superhydrophobic surfaces: the use of coating materials of low surface energy and creation of rough surfaces. This effect can be observed in nature on the leaves of the sacred lotus. The surfaces of these leaves have micrometer-scale roughness, resulting in water contact angles up to 170 that caused by air trapped between the droplets. In this work, we used epoxy and polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane(POSS) for superhydrophobic hybrids and characterized them with IR, AFM, water contact angle and so on. |
