The wide-band-gap semiconductor metal oxides, such as TiO2 and ZnO, have been remarkably noticed due to high catalytic efficiency, low cost and sustainability for environment. In addition, they can also be practically applied as elements in photovoltaic, light emitting devices, solar cells, etc. Herein, we investigated the influence of Au or Ag metal nanoparticles on photocatalytic activities of hybrid metal/semiconductor nanostructures. Using PS-b-PEO and PS-b-P4VP diblock copolymer as templates, hexagonally ordered hybrid metal/semiconductor nanodot arrays such as Au or Ag combined with TiO2 or ZnO were fabricated. Enhanced catalytic efficiency by surface plasmon of Au or Ag could be observed in photodegradation of dyes. Inner morphologies and optical properties are also demonstrated by atomic force microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, UV-vis spectroscopy, and fluorescence spectroscopy. |
