Polythiophene has attracted great interest due to its unique electrical, optical properties and high atmospheric stability both in undoped and doped states. Although the chemical and electrochemical synthesis procedures of substituted polythiophene have matured, the synthesis method of unsubstituted polythiophene is greatly restricted owing to its lack of reactivity under chemical synthesis conditions. Moreover, the presence of H2O as a polymerization medium causes the undesired formation of carbonyl groups into the thiophene rings inevitably. In this study, electrically conductive iodine-doped polythiophene was synthesized by chemical oxidative polymerization in anhydrous medium. In order to confirm the morphology and electrical property of iodine-doped polythiophene, Fourier transform infrared(FTIR), wide angle X-ray diffraction(WAXD), Scanning Electron Microscopy(SEM) and electrical conductivity analysis were conducted. |
