In this study, an ionomer was synthesized by two-step melt condensation based on dimethyl 5-sulfoisophthalate sodium salt (DMSIP) which is ion exchangeable monomer.Ion exchange membranes were prepared with UV curing system using synthesized DMSIP-HDO-(IPA-MA) ionomer and pentaerythritol tetraacrylate (PETA). Basic properties of DMSIP-HDO-(IPA-MA) ionomer were investigated with spectroscopy analysis, thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), and differential canning calorimetry (DSC). The prepared membrane were measured for their water uptake, ion exchange capacity (IEC), electrical properties, and vanadium redox flow battery efficiency in comparison with the Nafion 117. |
