The biodegradable poly(butylene succinate) (PBS)/poly(ε-caprolactone) (PCL) microcapsules were prepared by emulsion solvent evaporation method. And the features of the microcapsules were investigated in terms of manufacturing conditions and release behaviors. The form of the microcapsules was observed by scanning electron microscope (SEM) and image analyzer. As a result, the porous and spherical microcapsules were formed with gelatin given in a surfactant. Also, the thermal properties and release behaviors of the microcapsules as a function of PCL content were determined by using the differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and UV/vis. spectrophotometer, respectively. From DSC analysis, the thermogram of the microcapsules showed the two peaks of PBS and PCL by partially coated PCL on the surface of PBS microcapsules. Also, the release behaviors were decreased with increasing the PCL content. It was found that the coated PCL on the PBS microcapsule retarded release rate of the fragrant oil from microcapsules. |
