We have investigated an alternative procedure to obtain a Hartree free energy for diblock copolymer systems, which contains the concentration fluctuation effects on the microphase separation of the copolymers. The resultant Hartree energy is stated mathematically in a simpler fashion than that given by Fredrickson and Helfand (FRH). The scaling relation of the so-called relevant parameter Νχ for microphase transitions are the same as those obtained from the FRH approach, as it should. However, our new Hartree analysis significantly reduces the location of transitions compared with the FRH analysis. |
