In this work asymmetric poly(ethylene oxide)-b-poly(1H,1H-dihydroperfluorooctyl methacrylate) (PEO-b-PFOMA) semifluorinated block copolymers were blended with high and low molecular poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) homopolymers by solution casting from chloroform. A variety of binary blends were prepared by premixing (before dispersion) and postmixing (after dispersion) diblocks with varying composition and molecular weight. Different average compositions and molecular weights exhibit varying degrees of structural morphology. Morphology of the blends was observed by transmission electron microscopy (TEM). The outcomes of this study provide a novel method that requires the adjustment of variables to tune the size of domains between 10 and 100 nm, with potential applications in a number of areas including membrane technologies. |
